Something I Discovered through Body Analysis

So as you all know I have been taking the emotional eating class through St Francis weight loss center.  Last week we did a body analysis on their fancy scale after class.  This past week I have been determined to use what I have learned so far in class to kick start my weight loss.  I have followed all rules and exercised like a mad woman.

This week Holly let us do the body analysis again, in a weeks time I have only lost one pound.  However, I have gained five pounds of lean body mass and lost five pounds of body fat.  I guess there are more ways to measure our success other than the scales we just don't have access to them.  I really feel rejuvinated today and know that my efforts are paying off in ways I may not be able to see.

I really wanted to share this with those of us who have been frustrated in our stalls, perhaps they are not really stalls, we just don't have a way to measure what our body is doing during this time.  Anyone want to chime in with an opinion or experience in this area?

I have not heard of a body analysis.
See you are still doing great .

They use a special scale that weighs not only your weight but your fat and lean muscle tissue, its very interesting.  It also gives you your BMR rate, that is the calories you would need to eat daily to maintain your current weight.  For me it is 1519 calories per day, which I am eating well under that and exercising so statistically I should still lose weight.

Do you have to be a patient there to attend the meetings?

No you do not have to be a patient to take the class.  Its on Monday nights for six weeks.  There is a $50 fee.  Once you pay the fee you can go back as many times as necessary until you "get it".  So even though it is a six week class you can go longer.

Hey Jeannie!

Aren't those scales great?  They have one of those at St V's for the people having to go through the 6 months of supervised weight loss with Dr Gomez prior to qualifying for surgery.  That was the first time I had seen one of those.  They really do put a perspective on our weight.  It can even tell how much water we're holding :-)

It would be great if we had access to those scales all the time.  I stall so much that it would be encouraging to see one.

Since I'm an exercise BUM, I'm sure my weight wouldn't reflect lean muscle mass like you see!!!  LOL

Wow!  That's amazing!  I would like to have one of those scales too...especially for the times I stall.  Wonder if we can buy them or they would be too pricey.  Thanks for the info. Jeannie.  I think you are doing great!
